Gakharia’s Sichinava: We must restore peace and justice in our country, cities, streets, and families
“If you vote for the Georgian Dream, you are endorsing the confrontation and chaos it has deliberately fuelled. We need peace and fair order to return,” said Berdia Sichinava, one of the leaders of the Gakharia for Georgia party.
Sichinava emphasised that abstaining from voting is a lost opportunity that “we cannot afford to miss.”
“Tomorrow is October 4, Election Day. Participating in the elections is not only our constitutional right as Georgian citizens but also a duty, an obligation we owe to one another and to the future of our country. To abstain from voting means handing your support to the violent, treacherous, deceitful, and corrupt Georgian Dream party, which will use that support against you once again.
Sichinava urged everyone to go out and vote: against appeasing the occupiers; against the Georgian Dream party that betrays national interests; against the oppressive regime of Georgian Dream that brutalises young people and women; against the imprisonment of innocent individuals; against the theft of public funds by Georgian Dream; against the exodus of young people from our country; against the criminality and drug abuse protected by Georgian Dream; against the artificial division among Georgians and the chaos it sows; and against halting Georgia’s European aspirations.
“Every vote not cast against Georgian Dream is a victory for the Georgian Dream. Regardless of political beliefs, we call on all citizens who cherish democracy: abstaining from voting is a missed opportunity that we cannot afford to lose.
To the remaining supporters of Georgian Dream, I say this: voting for this party means endorsing the strife, confrontation, and chaos it has deliberately incited. We need the return of peace and justice to our country, our cities, streets, and families.
Finally, I wish to echo the words of Georgia’s greatest son, Ilia Chavchavadze: “You must all choose the path that leads to your civic and manly duty, to serve your homeland,” said Sichinava.
