Foreign Ministry hosts Ambassadors to express concern about meetings held in EU, Germany
A meeting was held at the Georgian Ministry of Foreign Affairs with Ambassadors of the European Union and Germany to Georgia, Paweł Herczyński and Peter Fischer, to express concern about the meetings that took place within the European Union and Federal Republic of Germany involving Zurab Adeishvili (wanted Georgia’s former Prosecutor General) as a member of the Ukrainian delegation.
According to the Foreign Ministry, the Ambassadors were explained that Zurab Adeishvili was convicted for high-profile cases in Georgia, and it is regrettable that the “person, who acted against democratic and fair state principles, participated in official formats in the EU countries.”
“This generates fair concern in Georgian society and prevents the effectiveness of efforts against anti-western mood. Hope was expressed at the meeting the EU member states give a proper reaction to similar facts in the future.
At the Foreign Ministry, the Ambassadors reconfirmed their readiness to closely cooperate both around the issues of the active agenda of bilateral relations, as well as for progress in the process of Georgia’s further integration into the European Union,” the Ministry said.
