“The main goal of my visit is to mobilize the international community, the UN member states and institutions with regard to the situation in the occupied territories of Georgia”, – Mikheil Janelidze, Vice Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Georgia made this statement when assessing the Georgia’s participation at the session of the UN Human Rights Council and meeting held with the UN Secretary-General.
According to Minister, Georgian side urges the international community to be actively involved in the processes ongoing in the occupied regions of Georgia with regard to human rights/security situation. Mikheil Janelidze once again emphasized the necessity of presence of Office of High Commissioner for Human Rights in the occupied regions of Georgia.
“I provided detailed information about the death of Archil Tatunashvili and detention of our citizens to UN Secretary-General and the members of Human Rights Council. We request active involvement and reaction of international community”, – Janelidze said.
Within the visit to Geneva, Janelidze delivered a speech at the Regular Session of the UN Human Rights Council and held a meeting with the UN Secretary-General.
