For Georgia's Tata Khvedeliani sees government’s decision on foreign employment as correct, though long overdue
Tata Khvedeliani, a member of the Gakharia for Georgia party, has expressed the view that the government’s decision regarding the employment of foreigners in Georgia is appropriate, albeit belated.
As Khvedeliani emphasised, the government’s primary responsibility should be to prioritise the welfare of the country’s own population.
“In general, this decision is correct, although long overdue, because our people have been suffering from this issue for quite some time. It’s been a constant topic of discussion. The decision comes late, as many governmental measures do when taken under pressure to preserve power. Nonetheless, at this stage, it is the right move.
The state must establish clear standards for business and pursue a fair policy in this regard. Georgians are in a dire situation, fleeing the country due to the unbearable conditions created by the Georgian Dream, a situation that the government must address first and foremost. The government’s primary obligation is to care for its own people,” MP Tata Khvedeliani stated.
According to a recent decree by the Georgian government, foreigners without permanent residence permits will be restricted from working in sectors such as passenger transportation, courier services, and guiding.
