For Georgia's Sharashidze: Zourabichvili should reflect on her own treachery before accusing others of betrayal
“Treason is when you abandon your people without a representative in all 64 municipalities, when you retreat from the battlefield, when you sneak away treacherously and call on the people not to vote in the elections, instead, urging them to gather on Rustaveli, where a peaceful coup has been announced, and you do not take responsibility for this. And then, you refuse to explain why you did this, why you handed this gift to the Georgian Dream,” said MP Giorgi Sharashidze, a member of the Gakharia for Georgia party.
According to him, history will judge who is truly the traitor.
“Before she talks about our betrayal, Zourabichvili should be reminded that this is exactly what betrayal looks like. It is history that will judge who the real traitor is. Every day, we voice our strong opposition to the Georgian Dream in Parliament. This is a political process. No one promised that we would defeat the 89 Georgian Dream MPs majority with just 12 mandates. Even if the opposition held 61 seats in Parliament, unfortunately, that still wouldn’t have been enough, but the political debate would have been much more vigorous. In fact, it is the 12 individuals who are doing what the entire opposition should be doing.
Before criticising others for betrayal, let them first reflect on their own treacherous actions, including what they have achieved in this country since October 4,” Sharashidze added.
Former President of Georgia, Salome Zourabichvili, stated, “Some parties drift in and out of parliament, parroting Georgian Dream’s messages and repeating GD’s attacks on other parties. These are traitors, and achieving unity alongside them is exceedingly difficult, but we will achieve it nonetheless.”
