Ex-President Zourabichvili: Parties drifting in and out of parliament whilst parroting GD's talking points are traitors; unity is hard, but achievable
“Parties which vacillate between entering parliament and echoing Georgian Dream’s messaging are traitors,” former President of Georgia Salome Zourabichvili has taken to social media, where she has been responding to questions from the public.
According to Zourabichvili, the opposition will achieve unity anyway.
“We must continue the struggle, strengthen our unity, and win the elections that Georgian Dream will most assuredly lose. Today, I am unaware of any genuine supporter of Georgian Dream, except for those who work directly as bots, individuals ensnared by compromising material, and those who are financially beholden to the party. I am not aware of any other free, willing supporter. Georgian Dream has permeated every sphere and segment of society. No one has emerged from this situation unscathed. Georgian Dream has extended its reach to the diaspora, parents, students, teachers, professors, every university and community.
Tomorrow it will come for the private universities, which still imagine they might be spared. No one will be spared. Georgian Dream has come for business, too. Everything is prohibited in this country, so who on earth should be supporting Georgian Dream? The state has practically ceased to exist; borders mean nothing; our defence is in a parlous state; there is war all around us; and the Security Council does not convene. Is this a state? Can anyone genuinely approve of this, unless they are somehow bound to Georgian Dream?
I am deeply confident that we have already won the last election. We will win the next election by an even greater margin—provided we stop undermining one another and cease deceiving each other. These were among the key factors that held us back, and unfortunately, we still observe them in certain parties today.
Some parties drift in and out of parliament, parroting Georgian Dream’s messages and repeating GD’s attacks on other parties. These are traitors, and achieving unity alongside them is exceedingly difficult, but we will achieve it nonetheless,” Salome Zourabichvili declared.
