For Georgia’s Sharashidze: If GD truly wants dialogue, it should demonstrate readiness through concrete steps
Starting dialogue is the responsibility of Georgian Dream, and it is up to them to take the necessary steps to initiate it, said Giorgi Sharashidze, a member of the party For Georgia.
According to him, if Georgian Dream truly wants dialogue, it should demonstrate readiness through concrete steps.
“It would have been better if Shalva Papuashvili had explained why the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe exposed and accused Georgian Dream of violating human rights, when it pointed to the improper and manipulative use of the European Court of Human Rights ruling regarding June 20, in order to serve its political interests and initiate a criminal case against former Prime Minister and former Interior Minister Giorgi Gakharia.
This is a very important finding, which shows that instead of using the European Court’s ruling — which is primarily intended to protect human rights — Georgian Dream used it to violate human rights by bringing fabricated charges against Giorgi Gakharia.
Dialogue would be appropriate, and we have always called for dialogue. However, the initiation of dialogue is Georgian Dream’s responsibility. They must take steps if they want it to begin. As long as they refuse to step back or change their policies, and instead seek to enter the European Union on their own terms while ignoring EU democratic standards, there can be no real progress.
If Georgian Dream wants dialogue, it must demonstrate readiness through actions, not just declarations. They are doing nothing to show real willingness to engage. In fact, most of their messaging is manipulation and has nothing to do with genuine dialogue,” Sharashidze said.
