For Georgia's Khvedeliani: We do not see unity in today’s political landscape; such alliances will be 'buried', just like their predecessors
“We do not see unity in today’s political landscape, especially not among our party and the so-called ‘UNM’ parties. This is a red line for us,” stated MP Tata Khvedeliani, a member of the Gakharia for Georgia party.
Khvedeliani elaborated that their party adheres to an agenda which, in his view, is constitutional and peaceful.
“There’s no need to discuss unity when branches of the United National Movement are scattered across various parties. They could unite and form the true United National Movement. We are committed to a clear, principled, constitutional and peaceful agenda. We chose elections as our battleground, unlike others who opted for October 4, planned by the Georgian Dream, which has only worsened the situation in the country.
Our struggle is resolute and consistent, and has nothing to do with the tactics of ‘UNM’ parties and their irresponsible politicians. This alliance will ‘collapse’, just as previous alliances have ‘disintegrated’. By taking such steps, they serve the interests of the Georgian Dream. The measures they’ve adopted reveal nihilism, as we saw with October 4, the boycott, and other actions that have sharply bolstered the government,” Khvedeliani said.
She emphasised that the current situation in the country is a direct consequence of these developments.
“For us, all of this is a red line. We approach Georgian politics pragmatically. We are fully aware of the nature of our struggle and what must be done to succeed. We are a factor that has revitalised sharp opposition within the parliament and changed its dynamics, because the legislative body had become a mere façade for the Georgian Dream. We entered the parliament and are now opposing it,” Khvedeliani affirmed.
