For Georgia: Denounce actions of illegitimate Parliament, reject presidential election process

“The presidential elections scheduled for December 14 are illegitimate, as they are being held outside the Constitution, within the framework of an illegitimate parliament. Furthermore, such one-party elections fundamentally contradict constitutional principles,” Gakharia-For Georgia party issued a statement.

The party reaffirms its firm position, emphasizing that the Georgian Dream, in collaboration with the Central Election Commission and other compromised state institutions, has deprived the Georgian people of their right to free choice, leading the country into a deep systemic crisis.

“The political party Gakharia-For Georgia reaffirms its firm stance and clearly states that the Georgian Dream, in collaboration with the Central Election Commission and other seized state institutions, has deprived the Georgian people of their right to free choice and plunged the country into a deep systemic crisis.

We do not recognize the legitimacy of the election results, the parliament, or any body elected by this illegitimate parliament.

The presidential elections scheduled for December 14 are illegitimate because they are being held outside the framework of the Constitution, within the context of an illegitimate parliament. Furthermore, one-party elections fundamentally violate the constitutional principle that a president in a parliamentary republic should be elected inclusively, through broad political consensus.

Therefore, we once again declare that the Gakharia-For Georgia party will not participate in the illegal process of electing a president and does not recognize the actions or decisions made by the de facto, illegitimate parliament, including those of the illegally elected president.

To resolve the severe systemic crisis facing the country, two main conditions must be met: the immediate and unconditional release of individuals unlawfully detained during protests, whom the GD government has made hostages of the system and the calling of new elections under conditions of a balanced election administration and politically neutral state structures,” the statement reads.
