FM: Istanbul Declaration reflects shared vision of Georgia–Azerbaijan–Turkey cooperation

Georgia’s Foreign Minister Maka Botchorishvili has highlighted the importance of the trilateral cooperation format between Georgia, Türkiye, and Azerbaijan, describing it as a key mechanism for regional engagement and development.

Speaking after the latest ministerial meeting held in Istanbul, Botchorishvili said the format provides an opportunity to assess ongoing cooperation and its significance not only for the three countries but also for the wider region.

“We discussed future plans for enhancing cooperation in various areas to better showcase the role of the three countries, particularly in terms of connectivity. There are several ideas and projects that require our continuous collaboration and effort. The meeting was characterized by a positive atmosphere and dynamic exchanges. The Istanbul Declaration encapsulates our discussions and addresses all the key topics we covered, beginning with security issues. Both Turkey and Azerbaijan reaffirm their support for Georgia’s territorial integrity and respect for its sovereignty, which were also noted in the declaration. We explored a variety of subjects related to regional development, the overall situation in the Middle East, and the Russia-Ukraine conflict. All these matters are reflected in the Istanbul Declaration. Additionally, we discussed infrastructure projects among the three countries. Most importantly, we reiterated our shared vision and aspiration to further strengthen these relations and focus on achieving tangible results,” the Foreign Minister stated.
