FM: Georgian PM to report to Global Gateway Forum on Georgia’s vision for infrastructure development
At the invitation of the European Commission President, Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili is paying a working visit to Brussels, which hosts the 2023 Global Gateway Forum.
According to the Georgian Foreign Minister Ilia Darchiashvili, the forum will discuss the possibilities of connectivity the European Union proposes to different countries, including the Associated Trio.
Georgia’s connectivity is one of the primary issues that develops in parallel with Georgia’s EU political affiliation, the minister remarked.
“We have some crucial flagship projects with the European Union, which bring Georgia physically closer to the EU and further improve our connectivity with the European Union. Georgian Prime Minister, as a rapporteur, will report to the forum on how Georgia sees the infrastructure projects development to bring Georgia closer to the EU,” Ilia Darchiashvili said.
The FM added that another significant project to be discussed would be the Black Sea Submarine Electric Cable, which creates more opportunities for electricity supply diversification in Europe.
Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili departed for Brussels to participate in the 2023 Global Gateway Forum on October 25-26. Ursula von der Leyen, President of the European Commission, invited the Georgian PM to the Forum.
Organized by the European Commission, the Forum will host heads of state and leaders from approximately 20 countries to boost security connections in digital, energy, and transport sectors.
