FM: EP resolutions contain so much incorrect information to take seriously
“The European Parliament is currently considering another report on Georgia. We have had the opportunity to closely follow the process taking place within the European Parliament during the preparation of this report. It is regrettable that documents of this nature are being developed in this manner,” said Georgia’s Foreign Minister Maka Botchorishvili.
Speaking to journalists, Botchorishvili referred to the upcoming debate of a new resolution on Georgia in both the European Parliament and the Council of Europe.
“We have observed a number of resolutions, and the European Parliament is currently considering another report on Georgia. Throughout this process, we have been closely following the work conducted within the European Parliament in relation to this report.
It is regrettable that documents of this nature are being prepared in this manner. It is particularly concerning that none of the proposed amendments aimed at improving the text and aligning it more closely with factual accuracy were taken into consideration.
This situation once again suggests that certain actors are using such processes to advance a specific agenda regarding Georgia. While these efforts may not be particularly effective in achieving their intended goals, they nevertheless risk damaging, above all, the credibility and reputation of the European Union itself.
The extent of inaccurate and misleading information contained in these resolutions makes it difficult to regard them as a serious or objective assessment,” the Minister said.
