FM: Bundestag’s responses about German Ambassador’s activities are incomplete; questions remain unanswered

According to the statement by Georgia’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Maka Boеchorishvili, the Bundestag’s responses to questions regarding the activities of the German ambassador are neither comprehensive nor satisfactory.

Boеchorishvili stated, “There are many questions not only within Georgian society but also in German society, and, in fact, these questions remain unanswered.”

“Of course, these questions exist. We are not concealing them; they are being raised quite openly from the Georgian political spectrum in relation to the activities of the German Ambassador to Georgia. Our relations with Germany and the German state are important and valuable to us. It is regrettable that the actions of certain actors hinder the development of these relations in a positive direction and cause harm.

The answers we have received regarding these concerns are neither complete nor satisfactory. Many questions persist not only in Georgian society but also in Germany. It is very unfortunate that these questions, in fact, remain unanswered, and that the activities involved are still unclear to the German public, even though Georgian society is quite clear about what we are dealing with,” said Maka Botchorishvili.

The German government published information on funds allocated to support NGOs operating in Georgia through various projects. The total budget amounts to approximately 2.5 million euros, distributed over several years: EUR 360,164 in 2020; EUR 401,368 in 2021; EUR 297,899 in 2022; EUR 517,937 in 2023; EUR 831,914 in 2024; and EUR 150,580 in 2025. However, the list of NGOs receiving these funds has not been disclosed.

Additionally, the German government has disclosed information regarding the rental of expensive property by German Ambassador to Georgia, Peter Fischer, from Mamuka Khazaradze. According to the response published by the Bundestag, claims that Mamuka Khazaradze rents out costly property are unsupported.
