The Georgian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Maka Botchorishvili, emphasised that Georgia’s significance in regional economic security was a key point of Georgia’s speech during a panel discussion in Copenhagen. The event was attended by Georgia’s Prime Minister, Irakli Kobakhidze, and focused on the broader theme of Europe’s economic security.

Botchorishvili emphasised Georgia’s crucial role in the region, especially in terms of connectivity with various markets across Europe and beyond.

“This was one of the main themes of our address,” she stated. “In addition, we highlighted Georgia’s achievements. As a country with a thriving economy within Europe, Georgia’s stability and success are crucial for overall economic security,” the minister added.

She also noted that, in the context of the European Community Summit, Georgia aligned itself with the French initiative aimed at combating drug trafficking.

“This is an important initiative addressing a pressing issue for European countries. It involves a discussion among EU member states and partners on how to strengthen efforts to fight drugs and related crime more effectively. The initiative concerns not only our country and our region but also the Balkans and nations that are yet to join the EU. Once again, the emphasis was on the importance of joint efforts in tackling drug-related challenges,” Botchorishvili explained.
