First Vice Speaker Volski: Eurocracy has specific dark ideas and an agenda for Georgia that ignores all hard data
“Brussels bureaucrats and commissioners are following a rigid, predetermined playbook and pay no attention whatsoever to statistical data or research, including studies published by European research bodies, showing that Georgia outperforms every candidate state and even several EU member states across a range of indicators,” First Vice-Speaker of Parliament Gia Volski has claimed.
Regarding EU accession, Volski pointed out that candidate nations, such as Turkey and others, have been kept waiting in the wings for decades.
“Now they are declaring that EU membership, which could be altered by 2030, means new members ought to sit quietly without even having a vote. If anyone is treating the topic of EU integration in a negative light, it is Brussels, judging by their recent pronouncements. The standoff between Brussels institutions and Georgia is not about whether Georgia meets the criteria. Georgia leads across all metrics, but their interest lies elsewhere entirely, and it has nothing to do with membership,” Volski said.
Asked whether the EU is applying double standards toward Georgia, the Deputy Speaker rejected the term, arguing that ‘this goes beyond double standards; this is a deliberate, dark agenda and plan that utterly disregards objective facts.’
“Georgia occupies a key strategic foothold at a moment when global trade corridors and transit routes are under severe strain. Alternative supply routes, energy deliveries, and connectivity between nations have been squeezed to a minimum. We know full well there is an intense desire, and hope, to seize the levers of power in Georgia. That is precisely why revolutionary attempts were orchestrated, and why these recent statements are being made,” Volski asserted.
He continued: “That is why Georgia was initially denied candidate status, only for Salome Zourabichvili to step in and make a show of “sorting it out.” That is why it was pre-arranged to deny us entry to actual accession talks, which is why our preventive statement triggered such hysteria. Everything stems from this. Far from mere double standards, this is a strategic plot that is entirely contrary to Georgia’s national interests.’
The remarks follow an article published by Politico, citing EU sources, which revealed that Brussels is drafting proposals to offer a clear, phased accession roadmap to the four nations deemed closest to joining the bloc: Montenegro, Ukraine, Moldova, and Albania.
