First Vice Speaker: Marco Rubio is U.S. Secretary of State who speaks on behalf of the state; Opposition makes incorrect interpretations
“If the conversation was held, it means that the two allies restored their usual business relations,” said Gia Volski, First Vice Speaker of the Georgian government.
According to Gia Voski, both the United States Secretary of State Marco Rubio and Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze positively assessed the business conversation.
“The biggest part of society acknowledges what international relations mean. What happened is the positive part of this process. The call is an ordinary daily occurrence. Marco Rubio is the United States Secretary of State who has the authority to speak on behalf of the state. Both sides assessed the business conversation positively. This process puts the opposition in hysteria, and the incorrect interpretations that we hear are due to that.
This is regrettable and indicates that we have a big brigade of stateless people within the country that attempts to use any issue for their dark interests. If something positive happens, it is interpreted in a way that is far from reality. They do not know what the conversation was about. It was about the region and its security, the Black Sea. The region’s security is not cut off from the Near East issue. If the conversation was held, it means that the two allies restored their usual business relations.
Regrettably, for some time, there was only talk of a strategic partnership and no further context. Business talk is not something unusual but welcoming. A faster pace is acceptable to us, but we know the state of the world, and America’s role and responsibility in this case are also understandable,” he concluded.
U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio held a phone conversation with Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze, the U.S. State Department announced on March 30. According to State Department Deputy Spokesperson Tommy Pigott, “Secretary of State Marco Rubio spoke with Georgia Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze today. They discussed areas of mutual interest, including security in the Caucasus and Black Sea region.”
Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze reported having a productive phone conversation with U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio, focusing on “resetting the partnership” and Georgia’s role in the Caucasus region.
