The third stage of registration of first-graders in general education institutions for the 2026–2027 academic year — registration on a territorial basis — begins on May 15 at 09:00 and will continue until May 25 at 00:00.
According to the Ministry of Education, Science and Youth of Georgia, registration will be carried out online through the official website of the Education Management Information System.
“A child’s registration in the system is ensured by a parent or legal representative. Registration will be carried out in 12 pilot cities on a territorial basis: Tbilisi, Batumi, Kutaisi, Rustavi, Zugdidi, Ambrolauri, Ozurgeti, Akhaltsikhe, Gori, Mtskheta, Telavi and Poti. Registration is based on the address recorded in the electronic database of the LEPL State Services Development Agency as of April 15, 2026.
For those persons whose residential address is the occupied territory (Abkhazia, Tskhinvali, Akhalgori), the school district will be determined based on the legal address provided by the LEPL Agency for IDPs, Eco-migrants and Livelihoods (as of April 15, 2026),” the information states.
According to the ministry, the submission of the necessary documentation for electronically registered students will take place in schools from May 27 to June 12.
“In case of failure to submit the documentation within the established deadlines, the registration will be automatically canceled.
Documents required for enrollment in the first grade include:
An application by the student’s legal representative, containing information about the place of residence and telephone number, and meeting the requirements established by Article 78 of the General Administrative Code of Georgia;
A copy of the legal representative’s ID card and a copy of the document confirming residence in Georgia (if any);
A copy of the student’s birth certificate, identity document, or document confirming residence in Georgia (if any).
If documents are submitted in a foreign language, they must be accompanied by a Georgian translation prepared in accordance with Georgian legislation.”
The ministry called on parents to carefully review the registration deadlines and conditions to ensure timely school enrollment without obstacles.
