Finance Minister presents new Investigation Service Head Merab Gamkrelidze to agency personnel

Finance Minister Lasha Khutsishvili formally introduced Merab Gamkrelidze, the newly appointed Head of the Ministry’s Investigation Service, to departmental heads and staff across the agency’s structural units.

Khutsishvili congratulated Gamkrelidze on his appointment and wished him success in his new responsibilities.

The Minister highlighted that Gamkrelidze brings extensive experience within the Investigation Service, having previously held senior management positions across the agency, thereby possessing a deep operational grasp of its specific mandate and key challenges.

Khutsishvili stressed the need for the Investigation Service, under its new leadership, to maintain its active focus on preventing, detecting, and rigorously investigating financial and economic crimes.

“I am confident that Merab Gamkrelidze’s professional experience and the expertise he has accumulated over many years will significantly contribute to the effective operation of the Investigative Service and the successful execution of the tasks set before it,” the Finance Minister noted.

Merab Gamkrelidze thanked the Minister of Finance for the confidence and support, affirming that the agency will continue to proactively fulfil its statutory duties. Before he was appointed Head of the Investigation Service, Gamkrelidze held various senior executive roles within the Department for Relations with Regions at the Government Administration of Georgia, the Revenue Service of the Ministry of Finance, and the Levan Samkharauli National Forensics Bureau LEPL.

During the meeting, the Finance Minister also thanked the outgoing Head of the Investigation Service, Levan Kharabadze, recognising his dedicated work and fruitful cooperation, and wished him success in his future endeavors.
