Facilitators to initiate court-related clauses in Michel's paper, opposition never demanded, Girchi MP Megrelishvili says

Facilitator ambassadors initiated to enlist judicial reform in Charles Michel’s paper, said Girchi member Vakhtang Megrelishvili, adding that it was not the opposition’s demand.

Megrelishvili believes everyone reads and explains the sense of the document in their own way.

“It is much easier to sign an agreement rather than fulfil it, especially amid years of controversy and polarization, while the main essence of this agreement is to eliminate the polarization outcomes. We all have to tread this path to get stability, hold credible elections and end total distrust of the poll’s results. I find it hard to say that everything must be completed per the agreement. A person cannot sign on to everything. For example, we are in the same situation with the judge issue. Our facilitators, the ambassadors, initiated the clauses in the document, including the court-related point that was neither opposition’s wish nor demand. We disagree with the Georgian Dream’s reading of those clauses. The reality is that as various denominations read the gospel in different ways and then split, the same way different stakeholders of Michel’s document read it. For example, the Georgian Dream believes it read some clauses accurately, but facilitators who initiated some clauses disagree. Though I think different about Lelo, which dropped the amended Election Code,” Megrelishvili told Imedi TV.
