Ex-President Saakashvili congratulates journalist Mzia Amaglobeli on Sakharov Prize: victory for all of Georgia

“I extend my congratulations to Mzia Amaglobeli and Andrzej Poczbut on receiving the Sakharov Prize,” wrote former, now jailed President of Georgia Mikheil Saakashvili on social media.

As Saakashvili emphasised, this prestigious award is a triumph for all of Georgia.

“Mzia Amaglobeli embodies the spirit of peaceful resistance. This award is a victory for our entire nation,” he added.

Earlier today, Mzia Amaglobeli received the 2025 Sakharov Prize following her nomination by the European People’s Party (EPP).
