EU Ambassador – We would welcome media landscape where everyone is sure that his/her voice is heard
We would welcome such media landscape in Georgia where everyone is sure that his/her voice is heard – Carl Hartzell, European Union Ambassador to Georgia told journalists after the presentation of an interim media monitoring report of the 2020 parliamentary elections.
The EU Ambassador responded to the question about possible violation of media environment in cases when certain politicians give preference to several broadcasters and choose not to arrive at other TV channels.
“We would like to see such media landscape in Georgia where everyone is sure that his/her voice is heard. When some politicians choose which TV station or Radio to arrive, and this refers to many, this is a challenge because at the end of the day, you as the voter have to benefit from having the chance, regardless of the channel you like, to hear all different viewpoints,” Hartzell claimed.
