Environment Minister takes part in Zero Waste Forum in Istanbul

Georgian Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture Davit Songhulashvili participated in the opening ceremony of a high-level ministerial meeting held within the “Zero Waste” forum during his working visit to the Republic of Turkey.

According to the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture, the ministerial meeting, held under the patronage of the First Lady of Turkey Emine Erdoğan, was dedicated to zero-waste policies and sustainable waste management.

Songhulashvili emphasized that climate change remains one of the most pressing global challenges, noting that proper and efficient waste management plays a key role in environmental protection and climate change mitigation policies.

He said the discussions covered a wide range of important issues related to global environmental challenges and sustainable development.

The forum was officially opened by Turkey’s Minister of Agriculture and Forestry İbrahim Yumaklı.

Within the ministerial meeting, participants discussed practical approaches to reducing post-harvest food losses, improving supply chain efficiency, developing modern logistics infrastructure, and strengthening cooperation between the public and private sectors. Special attention was given to the role of innovative technologies and investments in building sustainable food systems.
