Energy Ombudsman – Subscribers, who paid for utility bills, will not lose money

Energy Ombudsman Salome Vardiashvili says that companies are already aware of the utility tax financing initiative and there will be no termination of service or other misunderstandings for customers.

Energy Ombudsman explained that a subscriber, who will fall into the advantageous category but has already paid the bills for consumed gas and electricity, will not lose money. “The money will be transferred as bonus. A subscriber will be able to use the money when he/she wishes and when governmental subsidies are exhausted,” Vardiashvili said.

Vardiashvili further elaborated that in money, cost for up to 200 kw/h consumed electricity is  30-35 GEL in Tbilisi and regions, while cost for up to 200 cubic meters of gas in Tbilisi – about 90 GEL, and in regions – about 115 GEL.

The government of Georgia has decided to fund utility bills for the next 3 months (March, April, May), Georgian Prime Minister Giorgi Gakharia announced at today’s sitting of the Inter-Agency Coordination Council established to curb spread of the novel coronavirus.
