“Test results have confirmed that school uniforms are completely safe for children’s health, and most importantly, the fabric is durable, practical, and designed for daily active wear,” the Minister of Education, Science and Youth of Georgia, Givi Mikanadze, stated in a video address updating the public on school uniform provisions.

“I would like to inform the public that every school uniform model has successfully passed tests conducted by SGS-CSTC Standards Technical Services Co., Ltd, an internationally accredited laboratory. They fully comply with all required specifications and standards.

Most importantly, the test results confirm that the uniforms pose no risk to health, whilst the material is hard-wearing, practical, and tailored for everyday active use,” stated Givi Mikanadze.

The Minister added that SGS-CSTC Standards Technical Services Co., Ltd is one of the world’s leading bodies in testing, inspection, and certification.

“This is a Swiss company headquartered in Geneva, operating more than 2,500 laboratories across 115 countries worldwide.

As you know, a market analysis was launched to source the tailoring of the school uniforms, open to any company capable of meeting the specified requirements. Selection criteria included quality assurance, high-volume manufacturing capacity, timely delivery, and cost-effectiveness, among other factors.

The market research revealed that Georgian companies were unable to fulfil an order of this volume within the set timeframe. Consequently, the contract was awarded to Glory Textile Industry, a Chinese company registered in Georgia. They subsequently commissioned a manufacturer in China that produces school uniforms for countries across Europe and Asia to handle production and delivery to Georgia.

The Ministry’s ultimate goal remains to ensure school uniforms can be manufactured domestically right here in Georgia, and step by step, we will undoubtedly achieve this,” Mikanadze noted.
