The Minister of Education, Science and Youth, Givi Mikanadze, has hosted a welcome meeting with the young trainees embarking on a three-month paid internship scheme across the ministry’s system.

According to the department, Mikanadze wished the interns every success in their professional endeavours. The Minister underscored the internship programme’s vital role in bolstering career progression for young graduates entering the public sector.

The meeting was held in an open Q&A format, allowing the minister to hear directly from the participants and address their queries regarding civil service careers and policy developments.

The initiative follows a directive by Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze introducing a nationwide, three-month paid internship scheme across public sector institutions starting in September 2026.

The Ministry of Education, Science, and Youth has selected 94 young candidates for the scheme following a competitive recruitment process. This latest intake builds on the momentum of 2025, when nearly 30 young professionals transitioned into permanent roles within the ministry’s network after completing their placements.
