Education Minister highlights need to revise general education national goals to be in line with modern international education standards
The national goals of general education should be revised since they are far from being in line with modern international education standards, said Giorgi Amilakhvari, Georgian Minister of Education and Science.
In the “Gadatskvetileba” (Decision) Program of the GPB’s First Channel, Giorgi Amilakhvari said the Education Ministry was ready to open discussions with the involvement of broad public over education institutions’ autonomy, national learning plan, financial and social concerns, resources and staff, support of teachers, high education and science.
“We are ready to share our viewpoints and hear your voice. Finally, let’s take responsibility and decide,” Amilakhvari said.
The Education Minister praised the Program for promoting education-related issues.
“In recent years, in the television space or different formats, I hardly remember a similar platform where practically decision-makers – teachers, parents, experts, politicians, school principals and representatives of various organizations – sat to talk, so openly, in a public space, on open air and discussed the most important and relevant issue for the country,” he said.
