Gia Volsky: There is confrontation within opposition, but not a breakup, as UNM former and current members remain united around common idea

“Nika Gvaramia is an experienced propagandist, although I would not say a positive one. On the contrary, he has considerable experience both working in state institutions and creating the propaganda space that fueled this hysteria when he headed a particular television channel,” Parliament’s First Deputy Speaker Gia Volsky said.

According to Volsky, there is a confrontation within the opposition camp, but not a breakup, as former and current members of the United National Movement remain united around a common idea.

“Of course, there is a confrontation. What we are seeing is not a breakup, but a clash. It cannot be called a breakup in any way, because they are united by an idea, and around this idea, Gvaramia, Saakashvili, Tsitlidze, Khabeishvili and any other person are together. Sometimes they argue with each other, sometimes they embrace each other, and that is of no significance.

“The Georgian Dream cannot have any connection with either this wing of the UNM or the other wing. Nor does it have 40 million in black money to distribute for the benefit of these harmful people,” Volsky said.

The remarks come after UNM member Ana Tsitlidze said Nika Gvaramia had “capitalized on Saakashvili’s resources” and argued that if anyone had been the UNM’s informal leader, it was Gvaramia when he served as director of Mtavari Arkhi, adding that he was responsible for many things.
