Economy Minister opens Georgia-Croatia Business Forum: We have enormous untapped potential to deepen our economic ties
Georgia’s Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development, Mariam Kvrivishvili, opened the Georgia-Croatia Business Forum, describing the meeting between the two countries’ business communities as an important and effective platform for deepening trade and economic relations, exchanging ideas and experience, and presenting a genuine opportunity to launch joint projects, attract investment, and forge long-term partnerships.
“I am confident that this format of engagement between the private sectors of our two countries will prove to be the foundation of yet another tangible success. Today, each of you will have the opportunity to establish new contacts and exchange ideas to achieve concrete results in the years ahead in strengthening economic and trade relations between our countries. It should be noted that, at this stage, we have considerable room and significant potential to deepen the economic relationship between Georgia and Croatia,” Kvrivishvili said.
The event took place as part of Croatian President Zoran Milanović’s official visit to Georgia and was attended by nearly 100 business representatives from both nations. Minister Kvrivishvili extended her thanks to the Croatian President for his visit to Georgia, highlighted the positive momentum and progress in economic ties between the two countries in recent years, and expressed her hope that the business meetings would bring the commercial communities of Georgia and Croatia closer together, boosting bilateral trade, encouraging B2B connections, and raising the level of cooperation across various sectors of the economy.
In her address, the Minister emphasised that the private sector is the cornerstone of strengthening trade and economic relations between the two countries. She briefed the Croatian delegation on the projects, mechanisms, and instruments initiated by the Georgian Government to support the private sector, including small, medium, and large businesses, which have ensured the resilience and rapid growth of Georgian commerce. Kvarivishvili also spoke at length about the progress Georgia has achieved in terms of economic growth in recent years, highlighting the sectors that play a particularly significant role in the country’s economic development and whose further strengthening represents a key government priority, among them energy, transport, logistics, IT, education, and hospitality.
