EC report highlights Georgia's economic growth, says Deputy Economy Minister

Georgia’s economic growth, sound economic and fiscal policies, as well as decreasing unemployment trends have been highlighted in a European Commission report, according to Deputy Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development Vakhtang Tsintsadze.

The Deputy Minister commented on the European Commission’s recently published economic forecast report covering Europe and global economic outlooks.

“The report emphatically notes that Georgia achieved very high economic growth in 2024, reaching 9.4%. The document also discusses the appropriate economic and monetary policies through which Georgia has managed to keep inflation below target levels, and emphasises that unemployment continues to show a downward trend. The report also acknowledges the steps the country has taken towards fiscal consolidation and the progress being made in this area,” said Tsintsadze.

According to Tsintsadze, the European Commission expects Georgia to achieve 6% economic growth in 2025, which is twice as high as other candidate countries. He also stated that Georgia’s economic growth in 2024 was three times higher than other EU candidate countries.

“We expect that the trend of high economic growth in Georgia will continue in 2025-26 and will be even higher than various financial institutions are forecasting,” the Deputy Minister added.
