Easter Epistle of Catholicos-Patriarch of All Georgia, His Holiness and Beatitude Ilia II was read at Sameba (Holy Trinity) Cathedral in Tbilisi.
Catholicos-Patriarch touched upon the novel coronavirus in the Epistle.
“Strange situation has been created. People on the one hand, got united against one common threat to life, and, on the other hand, became locked in their county, their city or village, their house. They were given the opportunity to think and they discovered the reality – that many things lost sense that they thought was important yesterday. Instead, some directions came to the foreground that was paid less attention before.
At the same time, states saw the need of self-provision, and dependence on others became disadvantageous. Like other countries, the number one goal for Georgia became the revival and development of local production and agriculture. It is noteworthy that the problem of the novel virus gave birth to great fear in the biggest part of the population of the planet and directed their vision to the God.
We should not be afraid of the misfortune. Christians perceive the problems with gratitude and see the God’s hand in everything and, while they are trying to find the right way out of the current circumstance,” Patriarch said in the Epistle.
