Deputy Foreign Minister meets Korean Ambassador over so-called Abkhaz Minister's visit to Korean Parliament

A meeting was held at the Georgian Foreign Ministry with the Ambassador of the Republic of Korea to discuss the visit of the so-called Minister of Culture of the occupied Abkhazia to the Korean Parliament and the opening of a so-called Cultural Center.

According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Deputy Foreign Minister Aleksandre Khvtisiashvili met with Korean Ambassador Hyondu Kim to address the issue.

The Ambassador expressed regret over the incident and reaffirmed that the Republic of Korea’s position on Georgia’s territorial integrity remains unchanged. He emphasized that Korea does not recognize Abkhazia as an independent state and considers it an integral part of Georgia, a stance repeatedly confirmed by the Korean government.

As for the so-called Cultural Center, the Ambassador clarified that the Korean government has not issued any authorization for its establishment or operation. In line with Korean legislation, he noted, such a center cannot legally function.
