It is important that the already tense Georgian-Russian relations are not turned to the tenser. This is not in the interests of either delegation participating in Geneva negotiations – Lasha Darsalia, Deputy Foreign Minister of Georgia said about the ongoing 48^th round of Geneva talks.

“The main difficulty in leading of negotiations refers to the fulfillment of the 6-point agreement, both security and humanitarian issues, and discussions about the return of IDPs to their homes which the Russian side is trying to avoid touching upon. Frankly speaking, we do not have an expectation that we will reach any progress,” Darsalia said in an interview with Georgian First Channel.

The 48^th round of internationally mediated Geneva negotiations is held on July 2-3. The Georgian side will raise the issue of closure of the Enguri Bridge at the so-called border with occupied Abkhazia region and the imposition of limitations to free movement during the talks.

According to the Georgian Foreign Ministry spokesman Vladimer Konstantinidi, other issues on the working agenda include demilitarization, illegal borderization and difficult humanitarian situation across the occupied regions.
