“Georgia and the South Caucasus set examples of how we can effectively use existing resources in finding diversified routes to connect to the region’s networks, a direction that is truly worth investing in,” said Ekaterine Guntsadze, Deputy Finance Minister, addressing the panel discussion organized in partnership with Financial Times and Asian Development Bank (ADB) held on the sidelines of the ADB 59th annual meeting.

The discussion focused on transcontinental network development, energy efficiency, cooperation and investments.

Ekaterine Guntsadze remarked that due to Georgia’s natural geographical location, the country has vast potential for energy production with hydro resources.

Guntsadze focused on the Black Sea Submarine Cable project when speaking about energy export potential, stressing that the development of energy resources was significant for energy security and connectivity.

She said that today, when the land and rail capabilities of the Middle Corridor are becoming increasingly relevant, strengthening the role of energy connections – the “energy middle corridor” – is no less important.
