David Zalkaliani spoke about facts of violation of religious rights in the occupied territories
Georgian Foreign Minister David Zalkaliani spoke about facts of violation of religious rights by the occupation regime during the international conference on religious freedom.
David Zalkaliani delivered a speech at ministerial for international religious freedom organized by the State Department in Washington.
By the invitation of US State Secretary Mike Pompeo and with the patronage of US Vice-President Mike Pence the conference is being held in Washington. The foreign ministers of more than 40 countries are taking part in the event.
Georgian Minister emphasized the centuries-old history of Georgia, which is rich and exemplary in terms of unique tolerance and multiethnic co-existence.
According to him, after the occupation and the 2008 military aggression the situation in the occupied territories deteriorated. As he noted, the rights of representatives of the Georgian Orthodox Church, as well as the Georgian Orthodox Church are violated, as they are not allowed to conduct church services or take part in religious activities and celebrations at the occupied territories during the years.
