Tbilisi City Court has granted bail as a preventive measure to Georgian tennis player Nikoloz Basilashvili, who has been charged for violence against his ex-wife. Basilashvili’s lawyer Irma Chkvadua has made this statement at the Tbilisi City Court today. As Chkadua notes, the amount of bail remains confidential.
Prosecutor’s Office demanded imprisonment as a preventive measure.
Tennis player Nikoloz Basilashvili was arrested on May 22. According to the Prosecutor’s Office, on May 21, Basilashvili physically assaulted his ex-wife on the grounds of a dispute in Avchala district, Tbilisi. The criminal case is investigated under Article 126, Part 2, Subparagraph B of the Criminal Code of Georgia.
