Court sends nine indictees in Vake Park tragedy behind bars

The Tbilisi City Court ruled to imprison nine persons charged in the Vake Park fountain case, as requested by the General Prosecutor’s Office. The indictees were present at the trial. The pre-trial hearing date is set on December 8.

The General Prosecutor’s Office indicted nine people for negligence, violating safety rules, and fabricating documents. The plaintiffs are the Director of Green Service+, a representative of the subcontractor company New Metal Design, the Director and an expert of Mshen Expert, and two workers. The prosecution on October 19 released a videotape portraying work at the Vake Park’s fountain.

Three teenagers were electrocuted while attempting to retrieve a ball that had fallen into the Vake Park fountain on October 13. One died, and two others were hospitalized.
