Competition announced for renewal of Ganmukhuri–Anaklia coastal strip

The Municipal Development Fund of the Ministry of Infrastructure has announced a competition for the design of the renewal of the coastal strip in the villages of Ganmukhuri and Anaklia, Zugdidi Municipality.

According to the Ministry, the project aims to fully modernize the recreational area and create a multifunctional, all-season coastal zone. The 66.5-hectare territory will include spaces for leisure, sports, and cultural events.

The coastal strip will be divided into several functional zones: children’s playgrounds, educational and cultural spaces, sports fields, training and recreation areas, as well as pedestrian and bicycle paths. A parking area will also be arranged, integrated into the overall landscape design.

“The infrastructure plan for the Ganmukhuri and Anaklia coastal strip involves both the construction of new facilities and the rehabilitation of existing ones. An open-air stage, a decorative lake, and a pedestrian bridge connecting Ganmukhuri and Anaklia are also planned,” the Ministry noted.

The project further envisages the development of commercial and educational spaces, pergolas, adapted public sanitary facilities, open showers, and fountains.

Additionally, the design includes outdoor lighting, irrigation systems, electricity and water supply, sewage, drainage, and security infrastructure.

Special emphasis will be placed on environmental responsibility. The area will be landscaped with local plant species, while measures for biodiversity protection, waste separation, and the use of renewable energy sources will be implemented.

As a result, the renovated coastal strip of Ganmukhuri and Anaklia will offer a safe, comfortable, and environmentally sustainable environment where both residents and visitors can relax and socialize.
