Children's oncology state clinic opens in Georgia

Georgia’s Ministry of Health plans to establish a children’s oncology state clinic and increase haematology oncology services in the country.

Georgia’s Minister of IDPs, Labor, Health, and Social Protection, Zurab Azarashvili, announced the formation of a working group for this purpose. He stated that the group got acquainted with the work of Tel Aviv’s prominent oncology-haematology state clinics.

Representatives from the Ministry of Health met with clinic directors and clinicians to learn about the approaches and experiences that have been adopted in haematology oncological care. The parties also discussed future collaboration potential. The group also met representatives of non-governmental organizations working in pediatric oncology that contribute to the growth of pediatric oncology services in Israel by mobilizing non-budgetary funds and universal support.

The visit of the Ministry of Health’s working party to Tel Aviv was sponsored by the Georgian Embassy in Israel and Israel’s Ambassador to Georgia, Hadas Meitzadi.

The agency intends to share the best experience of advanced countries and involve international specialists in establishing a children’s oncology state clinic in Georgia.

Following their visit to Israel, the Health Ministry’s working group will learn about the practice of haematology oncology services in Germany.
