Carl Hartzell on today's meeting between authorities and opposition

I am very glad about the fact that the dialogue is ongoing and there are certain processes around it, – Carl Hartzell, Ambassador of the European Union to Georgia commented about the scheduled meeting between the ruling party and opposition over election system in Georgia.

As Hartzell said after a meeting within Euronest Parliamentary Assembly today, he has briefed MEPs on ongoing discussions on the proportional system.

“I am glad that the negotiations between the government and the opposition are underway, which is a really positive thing. First and foremost I am glad that dialogue is ongoing and there are certain processes around it. I think this is fundamental. I am also glad that at their last meeting there was an exchange of views and a dialogue took place. It is very important all parties to be involved in the discussions in order to find a common language,”- said Carl Hartzell.

The second meeting of the representatives of the authorities and the opposition will be held with the participation of foreign diplomats at the Sheraton Hotel, today at 18:00.
