Direct flights between Georgia and the United Kingdom have commenced.
Today, British Airways, the UK’s flagship airline, launched operations in the Georgian market. A British Airways A320 Neo carrying 156 passengers has landed at Tbilisi Shota Rustaveli International Airport.
An official reception was held at the Government Terminal of Tbilisi International Airport to mark the occasion. Following intensive negotiations led by the United Georgian Airports, in collaboration with the Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, London and Tbilisi are now connected by a direct air route. The airline will operate direct London-Tbilisi-London flights four times per week.
Founded 50 years ago, British Airways has a history spanning over a century. Along with American Airlines, it co-founded the OneWorld alliance, the world’s third-largest airline association after SkyTeam and Star Alliance. Its partnership with American Airlines provides passengers with seamless connections from London to various U.S. cities. British Airways serves over 190 destinations in 65 countries, with its main hub at London Heathrow Airport, one of Europe’s busiest airports.
