Borjomi forest fire suppression reaches final stage, MIA says

“Borjomi forest fire suppression has reached its final stage,” the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) reported on Sunday.

The agency reports that several small-scale active fire pockets are being contained.

Personnel from the Interior Ministry, Defence Ministry, and Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture, four border police helicopters, and three Turkish specialized firefighting aircraft are involved in the extinguishing works.

Firefighters have been battling the forest fire in Borjomi Municipality since August 19.
