Border Police apprehend Indian citizen wanted by Interpol for grave offences

Through coordinated operational efforts and investigative measures, officers from the Border Police and the Central Criminal Police Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) detained V.G., an Indian national born in 1997, who is wanted by Interpol for a particularly grave crime.

V.G. was sought by Indian authorities for a range of offences, including the formation of a criminal organisation, attempted murder, and threats. He had been sentenced to life imprisonment in his home country.

Notably, the suspect crossed the Georgian border before the issuance of an international arrest warrant.

Following targeted operational searches, Border Police officers apprehended V.G. in Batumi.

Extradition proceedings, in accordance with legal requirements, are currently underway.
