Bera Ivanishvili says he will take legal action over allegations against him

“For years, society has been observing a discrediting, slanderous campaign by specific forces against my family and me. I demand a legal response to all this,” wrote Bera Ivanishvili, son of the Georgian Dream Honorary Chairman Bidzina Ivanishvili, in his Facebook post.

According to Bera Ivanishvili, he applied to lawyer Davit Asatiani to defend his “rights and dignity” in court. He stated that his appeal to the court is not “retribution against anyone.”

Bera Ivanishvili said groundless accusations in social networks and media “were part of a well-coordinated and planned campaign that should not be left without a response.”

“I became convinced that leaving the torrent of lies and filth unanswered has become a kind of motivating factor for those orchestrating this process,” he stated.

Bera Ivanishvili added that accusations concerned his alleged protection of so-called call centers, his entering into unlawful deals and the arrest of individuals at his instruction.

“I seek only justice and the establishment of the truth—including so that neither I nor anyone else will have to endure such injustice in the future,” he concluded.
