The Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia stated that the fact of wounded the son of the first Georgian President Zviad Gamsakhurdia has solved by police, five individuals are detained.

As the Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs Vladimer Bortsvadze, said, at today`s briefing, persons accused of the attempted murder and not reporting the crime were detained by the law enforcers as a result of the immediate investigative activities, several hours after the crime took place.

‘At this stage, the investigation established that on December 19, T.Gh- currently detained for the attempted premeditated murder, inflicted several injuries with a sharp object to Tsotne Gamsakhurdia on the ground of the verbal assault that resulted into confrontation and fled from the crime scene. The incident took place on Gali Street, Tbilisi near to the victims residing place.

The ambulance crew transferred Tsotne Gamsakhurdia to the hospital where he underwent immediate surgery.

Persons accused of the attempted murder and not reporting the crime were detained by the law enforcers as a result of the immediate investigative activities, several hours after the crime took place.

In case of confirming the crime person accused of the attempted premeditated murder will face from 7 to 15 years imprisonment, while others, detained for not reporting the crime will be sentenced from 3 to 7 years,’ Vladimer Bortsvadze said.

Investigation on the fact of committing the attempted premeditated murder and failure to report the crime is in progress under the article 19-108 and 376, III part envisaged by the Criminal Code of Georgia.
