UNICEF supports safe reopening of schools on September 15

“UNICEF supports the safe reopening of schools across the globe, as well as in Georgia,” said the representative of UNICEF in Georgia, Ghassan Khalil.

As Khalil noted, “there is no evidence that coronavirus transmission frequency is linked to the opening or closing schools. Instead, there is a bulk of evidence of the negative impact caused by the school closure.”

“UNICEF is working closely with Georgian Ministry of Education to ensure that schools are opened safely on September 15, that all children have the right to education,” said Khalil.
