Reconciliation, Civil Equality Minister meets Georgia UNICEF Representative

Georgian State Minister for Reconciliation and Civil Equality, Tea Akhvlediani, held an introductory meeting with Jesper Moller, the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) Representative in Georgia.

Tea Akhvlediani expressed gratitude for UNICEF’s active support.

The State Minister discussed the security, humanitarian, and human rights situation in Georgia’s occupied regions. She highlighted the issue of prohibiting education in the native language in the Gali and Akhalgori districts, representing a significant violation of children’s fundamental rights. Akhvlediani stressed the importance of international efforts to protect the rights of the conflict-affected population.

She also reviewed the policy of reconciliation and engagement to enhance the socio-economic conditions of the conflict-affected population and promote dialogue, trust-building, and societal reintegration.

The Minister presented the state strategy for civil equality and integration for 2021-2030, outlining its priorities and future visions.

Jesper Moller praised the Georgian government’s efforts and pledged full support.

Both parties expressed their commitment to close cooperation.
