UNICEF Representative in Georgia: My prayers go to saddened Batumi

UNICEF Representative in Georgia Ghassan Khalil expressed his condolences over the tragic deaths in Batumi, Georgia.

“My thoughts and prayers go to saddened Batumi; wishing the injured of the collapsed building quick recovery, and expressing high appreciation to the courageous rescue teams,” Ghassan Khalil tweeted on Sunday.

A total of nine people, including three minors, have died following the collapse. Three persons have been apprehended for the illegal construction works in the building leading to its eventual collapse.

October 11 has been declared a day of mourning.
