State Inspector’s Service to hold interrogation into alleged ex-president’s inhuman treatment

State Inspector’s Service holds interrogations within the framework of the ongoing probe into the alleged inhuman treatment of jailed ex-president Mikheil Saakashvili.

An employee of the Gldani N18 prison infirmary was questioned earlier on Thursday. He said questions had to do with the situation in the prison infirmary.

An employee of the Rustavi N12 Prison is being questioned. Zurab Paghava, a former member of the Medical Council established to monitor Mikheil Saakashvili’s health state, is also summoned to questioning.

The Investigation Department of the State Inspector’s Service launched a probe into the alleged inhuman treatment of jailed ex-president Mikheil Saakashvili on November 9.

The Service reacted upon the notification of the Georgian Public Defender and the information released in the media and social networks. In a letter, the jailed ex-president Mikheil Saakashvili, who was transferred to N18 Gldani prison infirmary from N12 Rustavi Prison, said the prison employees dragged him out from the car by force, fetched by the hair and hit him in the neck several times.
