Partnership for Human Rights: Children to be removed from Ninotsminda Boarding School

Partnership for Human Rights non-governmental organization reported that it had applied to the city court, which decided that all children should be removed from the Ninotsminda Boarding School without any delay.

According to Ana Abashidze, Chairperson of the NGO, the court discussed all arguments and evidence regarding inhuman treatment, violation of rights and alleged criminal cases that caused the risk to health and life.

Ana Abashidze said during a press conference that Judge Ivane Ghlonti fully satisfied the application about threat existence at the orphanage.

On June 2, Public Defender Nino Lomjaria reported that she had requested information from the General Prosecutor’s Office and Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia about alleged offences that took place in the Ninotsminda Boarding School.

According to the information, investigations were launched into 4 criminal cases of alleged abuse of minors in 2016-2021. Three cases concern alleged violence, and one case – alleged rape.
