Nika Melia - We will expel Tamar Zhvania, even if she has to go to prison for one or three days

Tamar Zhvania (Chairperson of Central Election Commission ) has to go to prison for one or three days – Nika Melia, one of the leaders of National Movement Party said during the protest ongoing at Rustaveli Avenue.

According to Melia, Tamar Zhvania, who forged the parliamentary elections at the order of the ruling party, has to be dismissed from post.

“She should be expelled and sent where the place for traitors is. Let her return to her consciousness. I have never wished imprisonment to anybody especially when I myself, have been the subject of persecution by this regime for many years, but the role of Tamar Zhvania is anti-state, she may be pardoned but she has to go to prison for one or three days so that nobody dares to throw votes into the garbage can,” Melia said.

Oppositional parties are holding protest at central Rustaveli Avenue in Tbilisi. The protest participants object to the results of October 31, 2020 parliamentary elections.

The opposition has three demands: Holding of snap parliamentary elections, resignation of Chairperson of Central Election Commission and release of political prisoners.

The second round of a dialogue held between the ruling Georgian Dream Party and the opposition at the residence of U.S. Ambassador to Georgia with the mediation of U.S. Ambassador and Head of EU Delegation in Georgia ended with no tangible results.
